It is rumored that BigFish is nothing more than Myxo's imagination, it is also rumored that BigFish is actualy a 50 year old guy from Kansas working IT support. Truth in reality is that BigFish is a girl living in San Francisco who writes most of the material for SF, inculding all the zany plots and insane characters. With her instant charm and dry humor, it's always fun to have BigFish around. |

In addition to making and reading webcomics, this mysterious character also enjoys talking with household furniture, drinking soda, thinking depressing thoughts, working with all things music-related and generally not sleeping. With an odd obsession with inanimate objects and Los Angeles, it's always a party with Myxo...a party filled with awkward silences, car porn, and really well-drawn backgrounds. awww yeah. Holla at that player. |

| How about a mini-biography for each of you... |
|
BigFish: Let's see...Terminal, being mysterious and Terminal-like, would probably prefer not to give a full name or age. Although it's safe to say that he'd also answer to Myxomatosis and is between the ages of 18 and 60. He's eerily affectionate about his hometown in LA and the airport that resides in it, probably due to some ridiculous childhood trauma. Other ridiculous hobbies of Myxo would be car ***** fascination with furniture, and the general enjoyment of inanimate objects. Often bored or depressed, never boring. I'm pretty sure he has a dog, too.
Myxo: Hmmm...about BigFish. Well, it's hard to say since she's so damn different from anyone I've ever met. BigFish goes by the name of Phyllis Chan and is in her early 20's, She is like a really old person, except young and cute. She loves Korean soap operas (who wouldn't?) and is a queen at Flash. BigFish is also fantastic writer as well. She also has gigantic dog on top of her computer screen that reminds me of my childhood trauma. She's not as uninteresting as she says she is and is pure fun to be around. It's like being friends with a huge orange fish.
She also has turtles. |

| What is the premise of Somewhere in SF? |
|
BigFish: The premise was some ridiculous event that happened back in the day and expanded into characters and plots and subplots as we went along, shooting PQs back and forth. It's called that because it takes place in SF, Myxo was throwing names in my face and I shot all of them down except for that one.
Ridiculously long because Myxo is known for long comic titles and spelled incorrectly because it's a made-up city based on San Francisco but actually very different. Honestly spelled incorrectly because Myxo fails at spelling and I never noticed. Oh, and I slept with his mother.
Myxo: Your face fails at spelling, BF. Anyway, the real name of Somewhere in SF is Somewhere in San Fransisco Half Way Beyond The Bridge and The Tower Lies A Place Where Nothing is Ever What It Seems On A Day to Day Basis Because That Is What Happens in This Kinda Place. I would have never noticed the fact that I misspelled San Francisco until a reader pointed it out.
As for the premise of SF? It's a soap opera that we write along as each page happens. We tried the whole "planning" thing and thought it was much too boring for us. We have as much idea as the reader in where the comic is going, so any plot twist is a surprise to us as well.
Also, BigFish sucks. |
| |
|
| What made you decide to do a soap opera in a webcomic? |
|
BigFish: We fell into it because of the dramatic fake arguments we would stage over PQs and stuck with it because soap operas are relatively easy to write--it's all over the top drama and angst.
Myxo: ...I was bored from doing a webcomic about the Los Angeles airport. I suck at drawing people, so I went to BigFish and asked her, "comic?" and she was all like "no." and then I was all like ":("
She felt sorry for me so she spit in my face. |
